Facebook correspondent in Dhaka


Popular social media 'Facebook' has promised to appoint their local representatives in Bangladesh at a recent meeting. At the same time, the company has assured all necessary assistance in the proper translation and application of Bangla language, besides appointing a representative to tax the National Board of Revenue.

An eight-member high-level delegation from Facebook made this promise during a meeting with Post and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar at the BTRC auditorium in Dhaka on Monday (September 27th). The information was confirmed in a press release from the Department of Posts and Telecommunications.

Earlier in the year and in February this year, the minister held a meeting with top officials of Facebook at the World Mobile Congress sideline in Barcelona, ​​Spain. Following this, the meeting was held again on Monday with high-level officials for about four hours.

According to the postal and telecommunication department, Facebook has given full support to Bangladesh's customary culture, values ​​and digital security laws, as well as to provide the required information as per the needs of the law enforcement agencies. At the same time, Facebook sought the cooperation of ministers and experts in applying Bangla language.

In response, the Minister assured all necessary cooperation including expert and technical.
